SHARE is a not-for-profit organization that provides peer-led support for women with breast or ovarian cancer, their families and friends.  SHARE’s unique support model assures that no one need face breast or ovarian cancer alone.  Drawing on their own experiences, cancer survivors help others address both the emotional and practical issues that arise from a cancer diagnosis.  SHARE’s services include support groups in English and Spanish, multi-lingual hotlines, wellness and educational programs, outreach activities and advocacy opportunities. All services are free of charge.

SHARE was a pioneering organization throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s when it provided a unique opportunity for women to come together and break the silence around a diagnosis of breast cancer, a silence that persevered despite advances in other areas of women’s health.  The same could be said of ovarian cancer, a disease that offered even less hope until recently and which became a part of SHARE’s programming in the mid 1990’s.

SHARE has become an important resource for other organizations as well as for the medical and research communities.  SHARE is a founding member and current board member of the National Breast Cancer Coalition and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.  The organization has served as a catalyst and inspiration to participants who, recognizing a need in their own communities and for their specific populations, establish support or advocacy organizations.  Among the organizations SHARE has fostered and nurtured are The Young Survival Coalition, The Sisters Group in Harlem, Sharing and Caring in Queens, The Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert, and Care to Walk in New Jersey.

Internationally, SHARE has provided technical support to groups of survivors interested in developing a self-help model of support, education and advocacy.  During the last several years, SHARE has worked with groups in Israel, the Czech Republic, Poland and the Ukraine.

SHARE stays on the cutting edge of issues related to breast and ovarian cancer in order to serve as a strong resource for those who access our services and an active participant in the controversies engendered by changes in scientific knowledge.     please go to our website for more info: www.sharecancersupport.org

"Jazz For Peace™"

Jazz for Peace's mission is to help advance people to their highest potential through the understanding of Jazz as well as spreading peace through our "Jazz For Peace™ Concerts" worldwide - joining forces (or performing) with multi-cultural musicians to spread peace through the art form of Jazz and entering regions that are politically controversial. By the means of live concerts, video taping, on hands/on-line teaching as well as supplying musical instruments to underprivileged children in under developed areas worldwide, Jazz for Peace will re-enforce what past history has proven - that the art form of Jazz has the ability to create a positive effect that unites people and may eventually start to transform the barriers and issues of different cultures and beliefs.

"Rick DellaRatta is one of the finest Jazz pianists alive."
               --Savannah Times
"It is actually the quality of DellaRatta's voice that grows on me more & more with repeated listenings. At first I felt that Rick's strengths as a pianist were foremost, but with time I have come to understand that Dellaratta's skill as a vocalist is not to be underestimated. "His voice has quite a haunting quality to it, being slightly androgenous in tone, sometimes ghostly.... sometimes sexy. "

".....sure it will be a good show."
