Answer: Jazz for Peace Founder Rick DellaRatta collected "industry" advice from the many Jazz Greats that he had the opportunity
to perform or be associated with over the years from Dizzy Gillespie to Alan Dawson to Dennis Charles and many many more which by
following eventually led to his historic concert at the United Nations whose 10th Anniversary is currently being acknowledged and
celebrated worldwide. https://jazzforpeace.org/senlet.html
The main objective is to continue to follow this proven collection of sage advice as Rick and the Jazz for Peace team carry their
collective torch forward.
A few of the main points include:
A. "Keep the ball in the other person’s court" at all times and help them as much as possible to "score".
B. Avoid delays at any cost – and in doing so allow momentum to work in your favor.
C. Assisting our recipients towards the "100% to you!" level as early in the process as possible by following each of the Admin
deadlines.
Expect a very poor result and keep expectations extremely low. That is because this kind of "asking the pitcher to hit a home
run" activity, also known as "Artist Dumping" at Jazz for Peace, goes completely against the sage advice and ADMIN objectives outlined
in FAQ #1 above.
However, properly notifying the founder in writing of this "problem" with as much advance notice as possible along with putting this
information on the Problem List to review together frequently IS in line with the ADMIN objectives and can yield far better results.
Definitely not. Better to double, triple or even quadruple check than to risk the chance of something important causing an
unnecessary setback due to an "assumption" that turned out to be erroneous.
Any funds that are actually generated from the project after expenses. For our benefit concert series we allow one exception and
that is a 5% commission on the deposit paid by the recipient organization upon confirmation. However for future commissions the
expenses of airfare, artist fees, hotel, per diem, ground transportation etc. must first be deducted. Please bill on a monthly basis
and notify us in writing at least a week in advance if for any reason you need to bill us sooner or later.
Always notify us in writing (change in your schedule, vacation, etc.) as soon as you know and never less than 2 weeks in advance
for anything. For things that are listed on the ADMIN such as flights, musicians, venue, etc there are specific deadlines listed.
Contact our Grant Administrator John De Angelis by email at info@jazzforpeace.org as well as by phone at 212-947-1104 at least a week
in advance of any deadline that you feel might be difficult so that he can assist you.
