Jazz For PeaceTM comes to Washington DC for one night engagement

November concert to benefit local animal rescue group

Arlington, Virginia  — September 23 — Jazz For Peace, featuring international singer, pianist and composer Rick DellaRatta, brings its unique musical style to the Nations Capital on Saturday, November 13th at 5 p.m. The concert will take place at Cada Vez Restaurant 1438 U St. N.W. Washington DC 20009. Tickets are $30.00 and are on sale now at www.jazzforpeace.org. Proceeds for the concert will benefit the Washington, DC-based Alliance for Stray Animals and People (ASAP).

Considered one of the brightest rising stars in jazz music, Rick DellaRatta was most recently honored in Jazz Singers, by Scott Yanow, as one of the 500 greatest jazz vocalists of all-time. Mr. DellaRatta created Jazz For Peace in September 2002 after leading an international consortium of musicians in a concert inside the United Nations in New York City. Jazz For Peace is dedicated to the concept of promoting peace and human understanding through the universal language of jazz music. Since that first concert, Jazz For Peace has entertained and educated audiences throughout the world and has provided musical instruments to children in underdeveloped nations. The group also performs throughout the United States, joining with local groups to raise awareness and funds for causes that affect their communities.

Since 1987, The Alliance for Stray Animals and People has provided foster homes and food to homeless cats located within the Washington, DC metro area. The non-profit organization also pays medical and other costs relative to maintaining the animals until they are permanently adopted. In addition to their work with animals, ASAP offers limited funds to assist indigent individuals in obtaining birth certificates and identification necessary to apply for participation in government-sponsored assistance programs.

More information about Jazz For Peace can be found at www.jazzforpeace.org. Information about ASAP is available at www.4asap.org
